How To Feel Confident In Your Abilities
Posted on May 6, 2010 by Renegade Success Coach
First, I make no apologies for the long post. I told myselfif I was going to cover the subject, I better cover everything. So here goes:
There are too many times in our lives when we focus on what we are not good at rather than focus on what we are good at. We can, at an early age be pushed into things that we have no interest in and don’t have the talents to accomplish anyway.
Take for instance, kids sports. There are tons of parents who force their kids to play a specific sport because they either sucked themselces or they want to live through vicariously through their kids.
One you one of those kids? Are you one of “those” parents?
Just think of how much our early development would thrive, if we were to be given some direction. Instead, we seem to be boxed in with everyone else. So instead of squeling about what we are not, we should embrace the talents we do have.
I would love for my 10 year old son to play football. Instead, he likes soccer and electronics. He can read a set of schematics better then most adults. So we encourage him to grow and thrieve in the areas that make him happy.
Everybody is special and we carry to the table different abilities and style. By finding what we are good at, and only then can we sense confidence in our own capacity.
There will always be people around to stifle our aspirations. Shove them to the side like a linebacker headed for the end zone and never look back.
It is never easy to hone our abilities or develop them, but this is something that we must strive to do. Even though we seem to always come up against a wall of negativity. The true character of the person can and will shine through.
The most imperative thing to bear in mind is this is open to each and every perosn on the planet. You can’t buy it, borrow it, or rent it.
